Artist Statement
Art and color have always been a part of my life.
I was taken to art classes at the museum at the age of six and
thats where it all began. My interest in art pulled me
into a world of creativity, imagination, color and inner peace.
I couldnt consume enough of it.
Through the years of watercolor painting, oils,
mixed media, pottery, commercial art, everything intertwined
with one another. I wanted to involve myself with something
new.
I am self-taught in this medium of Funky Furniture
and Home Accessories. I wanted to bring my creativity and imagination
to a form of new and discarded pieces and bring them to life
with color and function.
When I see a piece that inspires me, I then visualize
what I could create with it. It is then taken to the studio
where the work begins. The sanding, priming, painting and creating
a piece that brings out a conversation with splashes of color
and truly has a function.
There are no two pieces that are alike; some are
similar, but they are truly one of a kind. Each piece has color
form and function. Whether they are chairs, stools, tables,
benches, wooden plates, picture frames, mirrors or jewelry boxes,
it brings life into a room and inspires conversation.
All pieces are hand painted with Acrylic paints
and have either three or four coats of Acrylic or Lacquer for
protection. Some pieces have an added surprise of texture with
decoupage. I have tremendously enjoyed creating pieces and hope
you will enjoy them as well for years to come.
